If you live in the area - and especially if you've never been to this type of convention before - you may be wondering why you would want to stay in the hotel. You could just commute in and out, after all.
Here are a few reasons why you might want to consider booking a hotel room for the weekend:
New for 2018: Anglicon After Dark!
Anglicon 2018 will feature more evening fun. Watch this website for more details, coming soon.
Conventions are fun...and exhausting!
Being at a convention like Anglicon is a little like going to Disneyland; it's a heck of a lot of fun, and there's a lot to do - so much that you won't be able to squeeze it all in. Also, people (maybe you!) are running around in costumes.
By the end of the evening, you're likely to be exhausted (in a good way) and not in the mood for the commute home - especially if you're going to be coming back in the morning to do it all over again!
When you stay for the entire weekend, a convention is a mini-vacation - and a much needed break from the "real world".
A place to drop off your stuff
If you plan to spend some time and money in the Dealers Room and Artists Alley, you can simply leave your goodies in your room, along with any flyers and swag you may have picked up around the con.
Your own private changing room
If you're planning to cosplay, it's nice to have a quiet place where you can change, apply your make-up, and fix up your hair. Come to think of it, it's nice to have that even if you're not wearing a costume.
Parking can be a bit of a challenge once the convention is in full swing. If you're staying at the hotel, you can just park once when you arrive and you won't have to worry about it for the rest of the weekend.
It helps us bring you a better convention
Hotels offer conventions like ours much better rates on the function/event space if they book enough rooms because of the convention. That's money that can be used to make the convention even better and perhaps bring in more celebrity guests!
